While the Viceroys are the formal lawmakers of Brume, over the last millennium or so a greater turn of power has been captured by **Captains**; these are defectors from Viceroy Wrath's enforcers that began to stake claims of territories around Brume in an effort to both increase and legitimize their power over the inhabitants of Brume. These Captains were not punished or deterred from their efforts, as the Viceroys did not perceive them to be a threat in comparison to the possession of the Artifacts the Viceroys had. However, one Captain **Fang de Lupin** became more powerful than any expectation of him. Driven by ego and cunning, Fang was not an original defector, but rather had inherited his father's title, who had inherited it from his father, who had inherited it from his mother, who had been not only an original defector, but was in fact credited as the instigator of the desertion itself. Fang built a near-empire from his base in the Desire District. His **Hand**, **Iron**, was known to be brutal and even less forgiving than the already-violent natured Fang. The two were thought to be romantically involved, though this was never ascertained to be true or not. Fang's one weakness, it seemed, was that he had no heir. Without one, there began to be whispers of aspirations to usurp the cruel duo. These were silenced on two fronts; soon, those who had even uttered such words to themselves went missing, and Fang announced an heir of his. The relation was said to be Fang's own child, which appeared true from the matter of appearance; it is known that the rare **Hiereian** lineage that linked directly back to the very first **Faekin** had distinctive features not seen elsewise: pink hair and bright orange eyes were trademark expressions of the peculiar magic imbued in the very genetic code of this lineage. The child was kept mostly away from the public, and raised both in secrecy and under great protection within Fang and Iron's main compound. Little was known about the child, named **Remi**, until around 18 years later, when their **Heirrier** was executed for treason. Soon after this, Fang claimed that Remi had been sent away by Fang and Iron to continue their training in even stricter confidence to finish their lethal transformation into a proper heir to Fang's power.
