**Brume** is an **Adyt** located beneath **Gaia** and above **Elswyth**. Brume has a temperate-hot climate, with seasonal storms being the primary water source found there. The structure of the Adyt is not circular. The shape of Brume is not currently thought to be finite. It is incredibly flat land with three primary regions. The first is the **Innersea**. The Innersea is located to the East. The water is warm towards the coast, but becomes increasingly cold and dangerous to sail in the farther from shore one goes. This area includes a fine-sand beach as well as a robust marketplace and dock for the few ships that are maintained. Because there is no known "other side" of the ocean, naval capacity is not seen as particularly useful or powerful. There are many myths about what actually lies at the end of the Innersea. Many believe that it is a secret link to a hidden area of Elswyth not otherwise able to be found, and so most ship-owners in Brume are adventurers seeking the answer to this and other myths/mysteries involving the Innersea and the nature of Brume itself; usually, but not always, in search of some unfathomable treasure or power. Besides the Innersea lies the mainland of Brume, including the hospitable middle-region of Brume proper. This area of land is where almost all of Brume's inhabitants, life, history, culture, etc. exist. It is a grasslands with few hills and winding paths worn naturally into the plains by thousands of years of travel. Brume is split across four districts, each governed according to a **Viceroy**. However, unlike the **Governails** in **Reverie**, Viceroys do not all command nearly as much political power or influence over their given domain. In most cases, the governing of Viceroys mostly matters in terms of their board-like rule over the whole of Brume and are broadly speaking no more than particularly wealthy private individuals on Gaia. Similar to Governails, Viceroys also possess Artifacts which possess them of the souls of **First Ones** that preserved their essence within **Vessels** to prevent their death during the **Cataclysm**. > [!Terminology Recap] Title > Adyt: A layer of dimensional reality. In this case, overlaid with another. Brume, Gaia, and Reverie are the most populated and stable of the Adyth. Elswyth is far less stable, but is the largest Adyt. > Innersea: The infinite ocean that encompasses the Eastern half of my Brume. > Viceroy: One in possession of an ancient Vessel which provides power anchored in the steering of the Adyt. These vessels change their owner over time into caricatures of specific elements such as wrath or gluttony. > Governails: The equivalent of Viceroys, inside of Reverie. Governails possess much broader political influence and power. > First Ones: Little is known about the population that existed before the Cataclysm, but it is known that they were unfathomably powerful. > Vessels: A type of Artifact which contains concentrated and potent magic of some variety. > The Cataclysm: A great undoing. Exceedingly little is known of it, aside from that it created Elswyth and thus connected each Adyt to each other.
